Geyser Peak's owners turned a lackluster winery into a producer of excellent wines. Winemaker Daryl Groom, owner Henry Trione and Pres Dennis Pasquini create Sonoma County wines using traditional Australian methods. A history of the winery is presented.

Beckstoffer, 56, has almost 1,200 acres in Napa Valley and another 1,000 in Mendocino County. The grower, who tried making wine briefly and abandoned the practice, sells his grapes to the best California wineries. His career in viticulture is profiled.

Unique tasting reveals a bygone era in California winemaking

Biochemist and winemaker Paul Rosenberg, a German Jew who changed his name to Rhodes, eventually opened a winery in the US. A recent tasting of wines he made during the 1940s or 1950s showed his skill as a vintner. His life story is briefly recounted.
