Italian dreaming

Article Abstract:

The popularity of Italian wine and foods in the Bay Area has led many Napa Valley winemakers to develop Italian-style California wines they are calling 'Cal-Italian'. None of these wines rate outstanding scores yet, but these Italian varietals should continue to develop in the coming years. A list of the top-scoring Cal-Italian wines is included.

Monterey County's wines have not traditionally been held in high esteem, but that situation may be changing. Some very good to excellent wines are being produced today in the region. The best are rated on a scale of one to 100, with tasting notes and prices provided.
