Those who can not afford expensive French champagnes need not resort to poor quality cheap sparkling wines. There are a number of good quality sparkling wines available from California and other areas that cost less than $20. Twenty sparking wines rated at 80 points or higher are listed.

Mike Grgich: self-made in America

Article Abstract:

Grgich, the founder of Grgich Hills Cellar in Napa Valley, began his winemaking career in 1958 as a cellar man at the Valley's Souverain Winery. Grgich, a native of Yugoslavia, has a degree in enology and has gone on to produce first-rate wines. He discusses his career.

'82, '90 Bordeaux compared

Article Abstract:

First-growth Bordeaux of Medoc and Graves was tasted at the Wine Experience, and the 1982 and 1990 vintages were compared. Tasters were very enthusiastic about the 1990 vintage, and Chateau Haut-Brion was among the 1990s tasted.
