Sequum: Improving vineyards from the ground up

Article Abstract:

Paul Skinner, the proprietor of Terra Space, a consulting service on the geological aspects of winemaking, and a producer of wine under the label Sequum, uses his knowledge and experience as a scientist in grapegrowing. Latest technology including Global Positioning System information, satellite images and soil and topography analyses is applied to map vineyard land in minute, scientific detail and provide suggestions on growing vines in specific soil conditions.

The magnificent 30: Loring Wine Company

Article Abstract:

Brian Loring of the Loring Wine Company in Lompoc, Santa Barbara County, is considered to be a standard-bearer for Golden State Pinot, in terms of both his winemaking style and his sales and marketing methods. Loring picks grapes at higher sugar levels to get the desired level of ripeness, and although it is a rather controversial style, the wines are balanced and have great length.

The magnificent 30: Aubert

Article Abstract:

Mark and Teresa Aubert released their first wines under the Aubert label with the 2000 vintage, and were especially successful with Chardonnay. The debut 2004 Pinot Noirs, Reuling Vineyard and UV Vineyard, are both outstanding wines, displaying the richness and aromatics that define the wines crafted at this Yountville, Napa County winery.
