Stepping out in Deauville

Article Abstract:

An appreciation of Deauville, a resort town in the Normandy region of France, is presented. The 'old world' charms of Deauville make it a favorite resort of affluent Europeans and although the surrounding countryside does not boast any vineyards, but cider and Calvados production is well established.

A profile of top Rhone Valley wine producer, Michel Chapoutier is given. The vineyards of Chapoutier dominate the village of Tain L'Hermitage and the wine grower is currently renovating the Hotel de Commerce into a top quality hotel. Chapoutier's ambition has caused rifts within his family.
