A list of wines that are not up to expectations, such as Dominus Estate, Far Niente and Quintessa is provided. Many wineries are facing problems with the quality of their vintage wines due to uneven ripening and vintage variation, but mostly due to microbial dangers like brettanomyces or TCA-type microbe contamination.

California Pinot Noir's quality of wines continues to improve, with the number of outstanding wines growing and is changing stylistically. As California's Pinot vineyards are improving and as wine makers are gaining experience, they are creating elegant, harmonious wines that offer delicacy, finesse and nuance.

Let quality speak for itself

Article Abstract:

A group of Sonoma Valley, CA, vintners are considering setting up a board similar to France's Appellation d'Origine Controlee. This would be a bureaucratic mess and a serious mistake. Sonoma Valley wines are already known for their quality.
