UK dairy exports being shunned amid BSE fears

Article Abstract:

There is concern about falling interest in UK dairy products overseas, because of the bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) scare, although dairy products are not affected. Those involved in the industry are not saying much, for fear of aggravating the situation. Germany, in particular, is wary of UK products, and is trying to pacify customers by promising that they do not sell UK them. The government has not made a declaration about the safety of UK milk products as it would need a qualified statement from scientists.

There are four major companies in the Greek dairy produce market, and these are Fage, Delta, Mevgal and Agno, accounting for 77% of sales.
