Owners of fine restaurants go to the trouble of trying to create great food and exceptional wine lists, but then wine is served in inferior glasses. Restaurateurs should simply add $1 to the price of each bottle of wine and buy good glassware.

Bordeaux buyers are being bamboozled into believing that the current crop of Bordeaux on the market is worth the ridiculously inflated prices being charged. First-growth vintners are astonishingly arrogant about their good fortune.

A wine writer came across a rare 1864 book, 'Wine, the Vine, and the Cellar,' by Thomas George Shaw. Much of what Shaw had to stay is still thoroughly relevant today. Several quotations from the book are cited.
