Dietary fiber and colorectal cancer risk

Article Abstract:

A new meta-analysis of 13 case-control studies revealed that as fiber intakes increased the risk of colorectal cancer decreased. Yet, many unanswered questions remain about the role of dietary fiber, including the identification of the specific risk-reducing mechanism. The 13 case control studies also identified an inverse relation between the intake of vitamin c and B-carotene and the risk of colorectal cancer.
