Marcia Marshall's snowball

Article Abstract:

In 1987 Marcia Marshall was unhappy about the discipline at her childrens' school so she took them away and began educating them herself, taking her sister's children as well. The beginning with five children and one teacher has mushroomed in five years to 154 pupils and 16 fully qualified teaching staff. Mrs Marshall, 40, set up Beechwood School in the basement of her house but has since moved to an old school building in Clapham, a suburb of London, UK. Parents of her pupils are very happy with the education their children are receiving.
