'Fastest' lathe or not, green end is hard to beat

Article Abstract:

Riverside Forest Products Division Manager Gary Zechel attributes the tremendous speed of the wood mill in Lumby, BC, to the dedication of its staff. Zechel calls the mill the fastest in North America, producing 640,000 sq ft of veneer 3/8 in thick within a day, over two 8-hour shifts. The green end can consistently peel more than 4000 blocks per 8-hour shift. The veneer line works in conjunction with an adjacent stud mill, which is also extremely productive.
