Federal agencies directed to coordinate forest policies

Article Abstract:

The Northwest Forest Conference in Portland, OR, ended Apr 2, 1993, with Pres Bill Clinton telling federal agencies to devise a program that would solve the area's wildlife protection versus forest management issues by Jun 1, 1993. All agencies would be forced carry out a single policy concerning this issue. Changes in the Endangered Species Act will probably not occur, lumberjack retraining will be implemented and Northwest economic redevelopment will occur. Government ecosystem management issues will need much discussion before the issues are resolved.
