Fiber-cement plant is first for ABTco

Article Abstract:

ABTco has expanded its building product line by opening a fiber-cement siding manufacturing plant in Roaring River, NC. The company uses the Dura-Press system to produce fiber-cement siding that is more durable and moisture resistant in comparison with traditional wood siding. The fiber-cement siding manufacturing process is discussed.

Western hardwoods are generating interest

Article Abstract:

Furniture makers and other users of wood are reacting to the high price of lumber by looking for relatively unusual species, such as radiata pine. Some West Coast alders and maples are suitable for woodworking, although not hard enough for floors. Trees of California and Oregon may require special handling.
