Gingrich minimizes the effects of his personal and financial woes, of the 1995 government shutdown, and of the Clinton impeachment, which are widely blamed for his resignation as Speaker of the House. He insists that Geroge W. Bush's conservative social policies validate the lasting impacts of the Gingrich era.
