Simcity of angels

Article Abstract:

A group consisting of students, staff and faculty from the University of California in Los Angeles has developed the Urban Simulator software that features a virtual model of Los Angeles, CA. The model incorporates aerial photographs with three-dimensional images and street-level imageries to create an accurate picture of the urban landscape. Moreover, the combination of visual simulation, computer-aided design and geographic information systems enables the assessment of the neighborhoods prior to and after the completion of construction projects.

Do you know the way to San Jose?

Article Abstract:

Politicians from San Jose, CA, have long found it difficult to break into the state political arena. While California's first governor was from San Jose, the city has produced very few state leaders since then. It has been overshadowed by San Francisco, which has become the Bay Area's cultural, financial and media center. However, the increasing size of San Jose and its self-proclaimed capital Silicon Valley could raise the state profile of local politicians.
