Effects of urban transportation system change on land prices in the setting of owner-occupied residence

Article Abstract:

A model of landowner and household that examines the effect of changes in the urban transportation system on land prices and land usage is constructed in the context of owner-occupied residence. Such an investigation had been undertaken by various researchers in the past, but in the setting of absentee or public ownership. Improvements in the system, from announcement to actual completion, are expected to result in spatial change in city structure, development process, and land prices. Distinctions are made between agricultural land, non-agricultural land, and land for future development. The results suggest that from the initiation of transportation improvements to the end of the project, agricultural land earmarked for development experienced a rise in price relative to that of purely agricultural land.

Optimal cordon pricing

Article Abstract:

A spatial model of traffic congestion for a monocentric city is explained to investigate the effects of cordon pricing on trip-making and congestion level in each location. Numerical recreation using the parameter values based on Japanese data imply that cordon pricing attains an economic welfare level very close to the first-best optimum.
