Implementing managerial cost accounting: A labor case study

Article Abstract:

The US Department of Labor plans the future with a true shift, in 2006, beyond the traditional transaction-oriented activities that characterize institutional financial management. Managerial cost accounting (MCA) incorporates technology and smart business practices to emphasize on connecting resources with results, necessitating the availability of accurate information on the full and true cost of government services in the federal agencies.

Back to the future of federal accounting standards-setting

Article Abstract:

David Musso, the outgoing chairman of the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB), highlights some of the accomplishments of FASAB during his tenure and offers a few thoughts on the future of federal accounting standards setting. He advises that the FASAB of the future will just need to tighten its belt and head in a direction that will serve to accomplish improved accountability and decision making in federal financial reporting.
