'Native' NT server protocol and Microsoft BackOffice can help solve integration and networking complexities faced by security industry manufacturers. BackOffice, which ensures multiple users and sites to cross paths and interact, encompasses Windows NT Server and related client/server applications and Web applications. Aside from its own Web sites, BackOffice provides training courses, user groupies and a BackOffice Magazine produced by Pennwell Publishing.

Telephone line protection products are an important component of home intrusion alarms as an increasing number of break-ins involve telephone line cutting. In choosing a line protection device, a consumer should determine the degree of difficulty in removing the device. A good line protection product is also one that should send an alarm when it is removed and allows access to the telephone company for service or repair.

Embedded processor products ease PC-connected integration

Article Abstract:

Intel Corp, a San Jose, CA-based computer processor giant, rolled out embedded Pentium processors and StrongARM SA-1100 and SA-1101 products that complement PC-based computing at home, office, retail or factory environments. The new devices, which featured three new, high-performance, 32-bit solution, support the Windows NT/2000 or Windows CE operating systems in use by various embedded applications.
