Social insurance, majority voting and labor mobility

Article Abstract:

The mobility of the poor suggests a distinct, interior and solid equilibrium, while the mobility of the affluent results in two solid corner solutions. When two countries assume idential social insurance and when the poor are mobile, the equilibrium tax rate diminishes as the Bismarckian factor rises. When the affluent are mobile and the Bismarckian factor is identical in the two countries, the tax rate rises with the Bismarckian factor in the country drawing all the wealthy workers and diminishes in the other country.
