Redistributive policy with labour mobility across countries

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the redistributive policy adopted by countries with regards to international labour mobility reveals that there are situations wherein the level of redistribution in one country is lower than that of another country in the absence of individual mobility. The study investigates two types of individuals migrating across two countries and results also show that the redistribution attained through policy may be higher or lower than allowing migration without redistributive policy.

Dalton-improving tax reform: when households differ in ability and needs

Article Abstract:

A two-dimensional standard for a Dalton-improving tax reform is formulated, wherein there exists a social approval for transfers from the more able to the less able, and from less needy to more needy households. H. Dalton was apparently the first to proffer the transfer principle, which approves a small enough transfer from the rich to the poor. Using the example of excise taxes in the UK, this criterion is shown to be applicable for identifying marginal improvements in the tax system.

Marginal tax reform, externalities and income distribution

Article Abstract:

Research into welfare improving revenue neutral marginal policy amendments for an economy with non-identical individuals and an externality with a feedback on the use of taxed commodities is presented. The significance of distributional factors is highlighted, and it is shown that the net welfare effect of a rise in the congestion tax depends on four factors.
