Notes on integrated systems

Article Abstract:

The advent of integrated systems has led to discussions regarding open systems or open architectures in computerized security systems. Some industry standards that have already emerged include the use of off-the- shelf computers, operating systems, software and communication protocols. Some of the incentives offered by the adoption of open systems to security providers include the flexibility in addressing customer needs, easier entry, more suppliers, less training and the potential for sharing of information.
