Security professionals gain from such a partnership by becoming aware of such concepts as committing to the latest technology, scalability for future growth and the integration of security systems to corporate infrastructure. In return, security providers share their knowledge of procedures and policies in security management.

'Fat pipe' perils

Article Abstract:

Always-on Internet access is becoming a growing source of information security problems. Always-on high-bandwith connectivity to the Internet, provided via digital subscriber lines or cable service, leaves the users vulnerable to hackers who use sophisticated software to scan cyberspace for computers that are vulnerable. This is also a problem for computers connected to a home networks where any computer in the network can be a source of information leakage.

The invasion of dot coms

Video monitoring security service providers that are based on the Internet are the latest group to capitalize on the innovations in closed-circuit television surveillance equipment. The 2000 International Security Conference in Las Vegas, NV, became a showcase for the dot coms in the security service industry. The new entrants include iMonitoring.com, EyeCast.com, RemoteVideo.com, cEverything.com, PlanetCCTV.com, SecurityCameras.com and SupplyDog.com.
