The impact of changes in common property resource management on intrahousehold allocation

Article Abstract:

The importance of common property resources (CPR) as sources of income for certain individuals within households in developing countries was studied. The analysis showed that the intrahousehold allocation of resources was altered in a way that harmed individuals if changes in the management of the CPRs imposed fixed costs on them. A unitary model developed for the study caused detrimental effects of certain CPR policy interventions to be overlooked if the assumption that the household maximized a single welfare function was used.

Bank failures and fiscal austerity: policy prescriptions for a developing country

Article Abstract:

Data from Bangladesh is used to analyze the causes and implications of bank insolvencies. It was possible to develop a dynamic general equilibrium model that includes financial assets and a banking sector. It was found that monetary policy can greatly relieve pressure on the banking system, even if optimizing bank behaviour is not present.
