Tug of war

Article Abstract:

A closer look at the political prospects of Los Angeles, CA, focuses on its leadership in the face of the social and economic challenges besetting the city. L.A. Mayor Richard Riordan plays an essential role in steering the city towards economic development. Since assuming his post, Riordan has been adopting a results-oriented approach to government, allowing minorities to contribute their share in providing solutions to urban issues such as crime, employment and business development. The widening gap between the affluent and the less privileged is also a major economic issue being addressed.
