A new breed

Article Abstract:

A group of top healthcare executives discussed the ramifications of healthcare provider-sponsored networks, entities that both insure and deliver healthcare. Panelists agreed that hospitals that form their own care networks must be extremely careful to deal with the conflict of interests that is inherent in such a situation. Panelists also noted that physicians and hospitals must develop better relationships and become equal-risk-bearing partners in the network. They also stressed that physicians must take a leadership role in the new healthcare delivery format for it to be successful.

Bound & nagged: that's not a realistic prescription for kicking unhealthy habits; in fact, breakthrough programs show that people change at their own speed

Article Abstract:

Healthcare organizations can diminish their operating costs by implementing appropriate behavior modification programs that consider individual patients' needs to help them adopt healthier lifestyles. Efficient health education programs classify the patients by disease and offer them various options to help them improve their health. Hospitals also need to take into account the difficulties encountered by patients in the behavior change process and continue to monitor them after leaving the hospital.
