Materiel management and internal audit: a team approach

Article Abstract:

Materiel management and the internal audit must work together in order to search their goals and serve the institution better. Although the two departments work independently they share the same goals, which include the promotion of the efficiency of organization's operations, eliminating fraud and abuse, and securing that policies and procedures are not violated. The materiel management has the right to observe any misconduct among purchasing staff to ensure the efficiency of the purchasing process. The internal audit, on the other hand, has the capacity to investigate any misconduct of the purchasing staff since they have all the records.

A JIT-type stocking system for hospital pharmacies: the stockless method

Article Abstract:

Hospitals have been studying the adoption of stocking systems which maintain new items in their pharmacies for many years. The 'stockless' system is a variation of just-in-time inventory considered to be the most promising but is hardly going to be accepted as the standard. Efforts in seeking the proper system would increase due to health care reform and its cost containment provisions.
