A 75-year-old man with carcinoma of the colon and a right ventricular mass

Article Abstract:

A 75-year-old old man was diagnosed with cancer of the colon, or the large intestine, that had spread to the right ventricle of his heart and his lungs. The patient was admitted to the hospital with colon cancer, a mass in the right ventricle of his heart and chest pain. He had been treated for prostate cancer three-and-a-half years earlier. He had started experiencing a sharp pain in his chest two months before admission. Two days before admission, he had been diagnosed with colon cancer after passing blood in his feces. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of his heart revealed a mass in the right ventricle of his heart. He died nine shortly after a second admission to the hospital. An autopsy revealed a tumor in the right ventricle of his heart and tumor tissue lodged in the blood vessels of the lungs.

Valvular heart disease in pregnancy

Article Abstract:

Women with heart valve disease who want to have a baby should receive a thorough check-up. Pregnancy may not be advisable depending on the extent of the woman's heart disease. If she does become pregnant, she should see a cardiologist at least once every trimester and more often if her heart disease worsens. Women with an artificial heart valve should take an anticoagulant during pregnancy.
