Article Abstract:

The key components of the role of the Mental Health Workforce Strategy for England are outlined along with how it intended to ensure the mental health needs of African Americans and minority ethnic communities. The workforce will have to develop leaders from within ethnic communities, promote greater understanding between wider communities, provide resource to develop skill and confidence and identify their needs.

The main aim of the NHS is to reduce users' dependence on mental health services, however, help and support is available if they need it. Mental health service providers are urged to support the development of nurse prescribing according to local need, to ensure they are able to reap the full benefit of its potential.
