Recognizing and managing adult patients who are critically sick

Article Abstract:

The challenge of recognizing the ward-based patients at risk of rapid deterioration is discussed. Nurses are in a position to identify problems with the use of systematic patient assessment as they are in constant contact with them, which means that appropriate treatment can be initiated, saving the patientEs life.

Pushing the boundaries of nursing

Article Abstract:

Nurses wanting to move up the career had few options except to move out of clinical practice and into management. Experienced nurses stagnated in jobs that failed to challenge them and utilize their skills and knowledge, with many of them leaving the profession, wasting a valuable resource.
