Validation of bioimpedance estimates of cardiac output in preeclampsia

Article Abstract:

Thoracic electric bioimpedance appears to be an effective, non-invasive way to measure cardiac output in pregnant women with preeclampsia. In a study of 15 pregnant women, the technique produced results similar to echocardiography.

A randomized, double-blind trial of oral nifedipine and intravenous labetalol in hypertensive emergencies of pregnancy

A randomized, double-blind, hemodynamic evaluation of nifedipine and labetalol in preeclamptic hypertensive emergencies

Article Abstract:

Nifedipine increases the amount of blood pumped by the heart and relaxes blood vessels. Labetalol has no effect on the heart or blood vessels. Both drugs are used to treat severe hypertension during pregnancy.
