Weigh the evidence

Article Abstract:

The use of measurable treatments for urinary incontinence is supported by the International Continence Society as a method of assessing care programmes. Nurses need to use both objective and subjective methods of assessment, with patients being consulted as to how various treatments impact on their daily lives. Questionnaires are used to assess the amount of drink consumed and urine passed on a hourly basis, which can be measured against pad leakage to gauge instability of bladder control and which type of pad would be appropriate.

Evaluating healthcare systems

Article Abstract:

Evaluation of health policy is difficult, as the health of a population is dependent on others factor as well as the health care system. However, most countries could agree on basic aims which underpin their health policy. These aims include equitability, efficiency and responsiveness to the needs of the population. An evaluation of health education and promotion programs will consider the necessity for a health care intervention as well as the outcomes of the intervention.
