APN barriers in Houston

Article Abstract:

Financial constraints appear to be the most significant stumbling block to opening independent advanced nursing practices in Texas. Seventy-one advanced practice nurses (APNs) from Texas completed questionnaires rating the significance of current or potential business difficulties and detailing professional and personal characteristics. Three participants had their own practice. Other identified concerns included legal and tax issues. Concerns varied by age and marital status.
