Model of HIV-1 disease progression based on virus-induced lymph node homing and homing-induced apoptosis of CD4+ lymphocytes

Article Abstract:

A model that explains the progression of HIV infection is described. It is based on changes in lymphocyte circulation patterns between blood and the lymph system, as well as increased lymph node homing and death of resting CD4+ T cells.

Activity of HIV-1 integrases recovered from subjects with varied rates of disease progression

Article Abstract:

The type of HIV-1 integrase that an HIV patient has does not influence the progression or non-progression of the disease. There are over 100 different HIV-1 integrase sequences. HIV-1 integrase inserts the viral DNA into the cell's DNA.
