Acute rejection is associated with antibodies to non-Gal antigens in baboons using gal-knockout pig kidneys

Article Abstract:

A study to show that acute rejection is associated with antibodies to non-Gal antigens in baboons using Gal-knockout pig kidneys is presented. The data suggests that antibodies to non-Gal antigens will present an additional barrier to transplantation of organs from alpha 1, 3-galactosyltransferase knockout (GalT-KO) pigs to humans.

Human and porcine early kidney precursors as a new source for transplantation

Article Abstract:

Resarch demonstrates the feasibility of using undefferentiated or partially developed human and pig kidney precursor cells in transplantation and organogenesis procedures. Results reveal that mice transplanted with such cells differentiate into functional nephrons and miniature kidneys.

Prospects for Parkinson disease

Article Abstract:

This article examines Parkinson's disease research, focusing on a study using fetal tissue transplants in Parkinson's patients. The author argues that more controlled research and standardization is needed before the benefits of neural transplantation can be realized.
