Bioimpedance analysis and resting energy expenditure in undernourished and refed anorectic patients

Article Abstract:

Fiftythree females ages 18-30 years old participated in a study conducted to evaluate and compare their bioimpedance analysis (BIA) and resting energy expenditure (REE) levels. Twentynine patients were suffering from anorexia nervosa and were divided intoeither the severly malnourished or the refed groups while the rest were the control group. BIA was severely affected in both anorectic groups while REE wasmarkedly decreased only in the malnourished anorectic group.
