The U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB) role is to promote prevention of major chemical accidents. Carolyn Merritt who joined the board as chairman and CEO in August 2002 discusses her plans for moving the agency forward in fulfilling its congressional mandate.
