Burns

Article Abstract:

Being badly burned is like a bereavement process, according to James Partridge, who was extremely badly burned in a car accident when he was 18. He emphasizes that it took him a very long time to learn to cope with his disfigured appearance and with the reactions of others. His experiences prompted him to create Changing Faces, a charity to assist people in coming to terms with facial disfigurement. He is particularly concerned to ensure that disfigured people are not discriminated against in the workplace and that employees interact appropriately with customers who are facially disfigured.
