Periodic inspections of financial records by an accountant or certified fraud examiner frequently would help to keep a check on employees. A physician who suspects wayward activities by employees should specify that a fraud investigation or be done, not a standard tax audit, which is not meant to probe for dishonesty.

Maryland bucks national trend blocks Blues for-profit conversion

Plans by CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield to achieve the for-profit status in an effort to be acquired by large, private insurers faced rejection by the Maryland insurance commissioner, Steven B. Larsen. He stated that such a conversion would negatively affect quality of care.
