Ceramide lances the lungs

Article Abstract:

The Sphingolipid ceramide mediates the various causes of acute lung injury and ceramide derivatives are markedly elevated in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of patients with ARDS. This provides the basis for the use of new therapies to treat the critical disease.

E3 ubiquitin ligase Cblb regulates the acute inflammatory response underlying lung injury

Article Abstract:

The E3 ubiquitin ligase Cblb is shown to have an unexpected function in acute lung inflammation. The analysis has shown that Cblb has regulated the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)-mediated acute inflammatory response that is induced by sepsis.

PAF - mediated pulmonary edema: A new role for acid sphingomyelinase and ceramide

Article Abstract:

Platelet - activating factor (PAF) mediates pulmonary edema through the acid sphingomyelinase (ASM) and the cyclooxygenase pathway. Acid sphinogomyelinase and ceramide are possible therapeutic targets in acute lung injury.
