Changes in EMTALA will relax rules for on-call specialists

Article Abstract:

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services proposed regulations prohibiting the removal of uninsured patients, giving hospitals flexibility in creating emergency departments coverage schedules for specialists. The various requirements under the EMTALA are highlighted that aims to improve peopleEs access to emergency care by encouraging physicians to be on call and by permitting hospitals to provide it to needy patients.

Doctors see good in both reform bills

Article Abstract:

Physicians could expect better carrier relations and due process rights with both US House and Senate-passed versions of the Medicare reform legislation. This legislation includes extensive sections that would provide regulatory relief for physicians.
