A man of determination

Article Abstract:

David Blunkett has been appointed UK shadow health minister, succeeding Robin Cook. Blunkett, who is blind, entered politics after winning a seat on Sheffield City Council. He will challenge the government on any decisions he disagrees with, but believes his role should be to help to make the best of what the government is offering. His main activities are likely to focus on increasing the current budget of the National Health Service and preventing further commercialization.
