Conservative conization for microinvasive carcinoma of the cervix

Article Abstract:

Cervical cancer with very shallow infiltration may be successfully treated with removal of a conservative amount of cervical tissue which allows the cervix to handle the stress of future pregnancies. Researchers performed conservative surgical removal of microinvasive cervical cancer on 12 patients. All patients remained cancer-free for an average follow-up of 6.7 years. Four women delivered infants after term pregnancies following surgery; one woman miscarried at 25 weeks. Microinvasive cervical cancer less than 3mm deep may be safely treated with conservative removal and thorough follow-up.

The role of laser surgery in dissecting the etiology of absent or reverse end-diastolic velocity in the umbilical artery of the donor twin in twin-twin transfusion syndrome

Article Abstract:

The cause of absent or reverse end-diastolic velocity (AREDV) in the umbilical artery (UA) of the donor twin are described by analyzing the individual placental mass and vascular anastomoses in patients with twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) treated with laser. The results suggest that preoperative AREDV might result from a small individual placental territory (IPT), placental vascular anastomoses, or both.
