Construction safety: a cruel oxymoron?

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the management of safety in the construction industry are discussed. It is vital that all projects, regardless of their size, do not go ahead until there has been a detailed analysis of potential dangers. All employees must receive full orientation regarding each project.

Construction industry standards slump

Article Abstract:

The safety record of the UK construction industry during 1999 and 2000 is assessed. The causes of the high number of deaths on construction sites, the steps necessary to prevent such accidents, and the priorities of Health and Safety Executive inspectors are examined.

Construction industry: "stop passing the safety buck"

Article Abstract:

Issues are presented concerning the lack of action on safety matters which is resulting in accidents on construction sites. The need for better health and safety planning and strict implementation of policy in the industry are discussed.
