Could do better

Article Abstract:

Some observers believe that UK Health Secretary Frank Dobson is not really the right person for this role. He has experienced difficulties at the department of health, having to address a range of sensitive issues, including extending the ban on tobacco advertising to sports sponsorship. He has made a number of mistakes, including stating that nothing is being ruled out of the review of the National Health Service. However, other observers believe that he has coped quite well in a very demanding and complex role.

Shiny, happy people just doing what comes naturally: the House of Commons has felt the winds of change like never before in the past few weeks

Article Abstract:

The new MPs on the Labour benches in the House of Commons will see changes implemented by the new prime minister Tony Blair, starting a modernisation process. Changes include the replacement of the traditional gentleman's barber by a unisex hairdressing salon to accommodate the influx of new women MPs, and the addressing of Cabinet ministers by their first names instead of titles. Changes have also been made to prime minister's question time, although a lot of the changes are symbolic and do not cost money.

No more cloning around

Article Abstract:

UK Prime Minister Tony Blair is heading a call to ban human cloning throughout Europe, with such activity already banned in the UK under the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act of 1990. Animal cloning has taken place at Edinburgh's Roslin Institute, where a sheep was cloned. Scientists claim that cloning work will continue in countries where legislation is not so restrictive and that the Blair government needs to clarify its cloning policy with regard to animals.
