Article Abstract:
Researchers discussed the uses of light therapy at that annual meeting of the Society for Light Treatment and Biological Rhythms (SLTBR), which was held in conjunction with the Society for Research on Biological Rhythms (SRBR) in May, 1998. Studies have shown that light therapy is very effective for seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and may even be beneficial for regular depression. It is also being studies as a treatment for sleep disorders, bulimia nervosa, premenstrual syndrome, shift work and jet lag. Lighting devices have become more powerful, portable, and relatively inexpensive, leading to greater use in homes and workplaces.
