Purified hematopoietic stem cells can differentiate into hepatocytes 'in vivo'

Article Abstract:

This article examines the results of an intravenous injection of adult bone marrow cells, with purified hematopoietic stem cells, into a mouse. The authors maintain that the mouse, a model of tyrosinemia type 1, was cured and the biochemical function of its liver was restored.

Myelomonocytic cells are sufficient for therapeutic cell fusion in liver

Article Abstract:

The transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) into fumarylacetoacetate hydrolase (Fah) mice, lineage-committed granulocyte-macrophage progenitors (GMPs) or bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMMs) results in the robust production of bone marrow-derived hepatocytes (BMHs). Committed myelomonocytic cells such as macrophages can produce functional epithelial cells by in vivo fusion.

Depletion of host Langerhans cells before transplantation of donor alloreactive T cells prevents skin graft-versus-host disease

Article Abstract:

The roles of donor T cells in host Langerhans cell replacement are highlighted. Study reveals new information of cellular and molecular mechanism leading to Langerhans cell chimerism after allogenic bone marrow transplantation.
