Disentangling mild traumatic brain injury and stress reactions

Article Abstract:

The article discusses the study by Hoge and others signifying the important profile of the abnormalities of mild traumatic brain injury in military personnel after combat. The findings of the study demonstrate that mild traumatic brain injury in military personnel after combat increase the incidence of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression.

Mild traumatic brain injury in U.S. soldiers returning from Iraq

Article Abstract:

A study to examine the U.S. soldiers returning from Iraq to understand the long-term effects of mild traumatic brain injury or concussion is conducted. Results conclude that concussion among soldiers in Iraq is strongly associated with post-traumatic stress disorder and physical health problems 3-4 months after return.

Combat duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, mental health problems, and barriers to care

Article Abstract:

Four U.S combat infantry units were studied using an anonymous survey to assess the mental health of members of the armed services. Members of the army who are involved in combat are quite likely to develop mental disorders.
