Disruption of PTEN coupling with 5-HT2C receptors suppresses behavioral responses induced by drugs of abuse

Article Abstract:

The widespread distribution of the tumor suppressor phosphatase and tension homolog deleted on chromosome 10 (PTEN) in the adult brain suggests its role in a broad range of brain functions. Evidence supporting a physical interaction of PTEN with a region in the third intracellular loop (3L4F) of the serotonin 5-HT2C receptor in cell cultures is described.

Dendritic cells permit immune invasion of the CNS in an animal model of multiple sclerosis

Article Abstract:

Antigen-presenting cells (APCs) of the lymphoreticular system and of the central nervous system (CNS) parenchyma are dispensable for the immune invasion of the CNS. CD11c+ DCs in mice, are sufficient to present antigen in vivo to primed myelin-reactive T cells in order to mediate CNS inflammation and clinical disease development.

Sensory neurons are PARtial to pain

Article Abstract:

Research with receptors expressed by sensory neurons may lead to therapy that could block nociceptive information before it arrives at the spinal cord. This treatment could avoid some side effects of currently used analgesics on the central nervous system.
