Distinct patterns of hematopoietic stem cell involvement in acute lymphoblastic leukemia

Article Abstract:

A brief description on the clinically and genetically different subtypes of acute lymphoblastic leukemia that originates and transform at distinct stages of hematopoietic development is presented. Primary ETV6-RUNX1 fusions and subsequent leukemic transformation are targeted to committed B-cell progenitors.

Reactive oxygen species act through p38 MAPK to limit the lifespan of hematopoietic stem cells

Article Abstract:

The activation of p38 MAPK in response to increasing levels of reactive oxygen species limits the lifespan of the hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in vivo. The results reveal that the inactivation of the p38 MAPK protects HSCs against loss of self-renewal capacity.

Bone marrow-derived hematopoietic cells generate cariomyocytes at a low frequency through cell fusion, but not transdifferentiation

Article Abstract:

The bone marrow derived cardiomyocytes were observed outside the infracted myocardium at a low frequency and were derived through cell fusion. Clinical studies of cell generated high level cardiomyocytes through transdifferentiation are highlighted.
