Do nurses fully understand the new pay package?

Article Abstract:

A survey of British nurses shows that many are still mystified by the new pay system proposed by the government in the "Agenda for Change" plan. Nursing unions believe the new pay plan is good for nurses and are urging their members to accept the plan, but 45% of nurses surveyed say they are undecided and 34% say they will vote no.

Agency hits back with offer of better rates plus perks

Article Abstract:

Newcross Nursing Group in Torbay, England, believes that it is the first nursing agency in the UK to offer staff a fixed payment based on a working week of 37.5 hours. The agency will pay staff even if no work is available, but in return staff will not be permitted to refuse to work a shift unless it is impractical.

Brake at the border

Article Abstract:

Issues are presented concerning the growing number of Scottish nurses who are choosing to work in English hospitals because of the better benefits they are offered. The steps which are being taken to prevent this are discussed.
